Indoor & Outdoor Activities
International Delhi Public school participates in the Independent School League (ISL), which consists of 16 schools of approximately the same size and athletic strength. Our school has professional teams in various games at National level.
Modern education recognises sports and physical education pivotal to the health and fitness of the children as well as to their intellectual development. As the adage goes – “A healthy mind resides in a healthy body”, we at IDPS indulge our students in active participation in sports to develop their mind and physical strength. Sports aid in the social and emotional development of the child. Development of leadership skills, discipline, patience and perseverance, mental growth and efficient time management are the other benefits of sports.
Children learn not only through books but through sports as well. IDPS provides training in various outdoor and indoor sports namely: -
1. Chess - Improves Memory & develops perspective.
2. Carrom - Develops concentration & clarity.
3. Kabaddi - Enhances Endurance & presence of mind.
4. Volley ball - Builds co-ordination, balance & speed & improves mental health.
5. Basket Ball - Boosts the value of
hard-work & determination
6. Throw ball - Aerobic capacity improves concentration.
7. Kho Kho - Teamwork & Co-operation
8. Athletics - Improves cognitive & memory functions discipline.
Houses
To inculcate leadership qualities; a sense of responsibility, healthy competition and teamwork in our students, they are divided into four Houses based on the most valuable and desirable gemstones:
A. Emerald
B. Ruby
C. Sapphire
D. Topaz
The school emphasises on producing able leaders and good citizens of tomorrow.
Each house is headed by a Captain, a Vice Captain and two Prefects. Besides these, the school also has a Head Boy and a Head Girl.
The school organises and executes various Inter-House competitions during the academic year. All the norms of participation are informed well in advance and the winning students contribute points to their houses. At the end of the academic year the house that carries the highest points is awarded the winner house.
We encourage our budding talents by giving every child full creative freedom to concretize their thoughts and ideas into positive actions.
